Since March 2022, Dr. Jung has served on the Rare and Emergency Medical Device Review Committee, playing a pivotal role in the introduction and stable supply of critical cardiovascular medical devices in South Korea. His expertise has been instrumental in the review and approval of essential equipment, including catheters for transcatheter aortic valve implantation, artificial heart valves, left ventricular assist devices, and cannulas for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). He has also contributed to managing production and import discontinuation reports to mitigate risks to public health from potential disruptions in medical device availability.

In 2024, when an abrupt shortage of cardiac surgery catheters posed a threat to patient care, Dr. Jung collaborated with the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, and the Korea Medical Device Safety Information Institute to resolve the crisis without major safety incidents. He continues to develop measures to prevent future shortages. Additionally, Dr. Jung has supported outreach efforts for the Korea Medical Device Safety Information Institute at academic conferences and seminars, raising awareness among medical professionals about supply programs for rare and urgently needed medical devices.
At Korea University Anam Hospital, Dr. Jung serves as chief of cardiothoracic surgery, director of the intensive care unit, and head of the bloodless treatment center. In his acceptance remarks, he reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring timely patient care through continued collaboration among medical professionals, government agencies, and the medical device industry.
