[Hinews] Goyang, South Korea — On August 29, 2025, the National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) Ilsan Hospital announced the adoption of the Da Vinci SP robotic surgery system and the expansion of its Robotic Surgery Center, marking a major advancement in minimally invasive surgical care.

Since adopting the Da Vinci Xi system in 2016, Ilsan Hospital has performed about 2,500 robotic surgeries as of August 2025. The introduction of the Da Vinci SP is expected to enhance surgical precision and patient comfort, reinforcing the hospital’s commitment to advanced medical technology.

The Da Vinci SP, a state-of-the-art platform, enables surgeons to perform complex procedures through a single 2.5-centimeter incision using a flexible robotic arm and a high-definition 3D camera. This minimally invasive approach reduces postoperative pain and scarring, offering patients a less traumatic surgical experience. The system’s design minimizes instrument collisions, improving both safety and accuracy while enabling precise navigation in confined anatomical spaces.

Hospital officials expect the Da Vinci SP to shorten hospital stays and speed recovery, providing meaningful benefits for patients. The system is expected to play a key role in treating cancers such as gynecologic and thyroid cancers by enabling more precise, patient-tailored interventions.

Ilsan Hospital plans to use the Da Vinci SP to expand its precision medicine program, applying the technology to a wider range of oncologic surgeries. This investment reflects the hospital’s ongoing efforts to advance healthcare delivery through innovative surgical techniques.
